CONSULTATION 2026

Q+A FEEBACK SOCIAL SPACE.JPEG

The Foyer was improved in December 2025, to incorporate a larger leaflet rack + children's book case. The large bookcase is popular + was moved to make way for an improved seating area. Lose items + lost property have been tidied away. A folder of policies, 'Have Your Say' message box and incident forms are now within in easy reach and the notice board looks tidy.

As a result of positive feedback, Trustees thought that a smaller working party of members and trustees should be formed to address other areas in the village hall. In February 2026 the 'Social Spaces Working Group' began meeting to discuss amongst other things; how we can best update facilities to meet the needs of  the community.

THE MEETING ROOM

It was considered that the Meeting Room is currently underused.

TREV'S BAR

It was considered that Trev's Bar would benefit from the ability to 'spill into' the Meeting Room.

THE PATIO'S + GAZEBO

It was considered that the patio areas are well used in the summer and could benefit from attention.

Meeting notes, decisions agreed, surveys, drawings etc will be shared on this page as we plan and progress. If you would like to contribute please complete the survey in the first instance and/or get in touch here.

Social Spaces  Working Group (AL, VG, DF) Apologies (BJ)

MEETING ONE NOTES March

WE DISCUSSED

Can we make more welcoming? For whom? Who uses/hires the meeting room?

Zone areas for multi-users esp. smaller events

Can we run two events at the same time. How do we develop but keep areas distinct?

Current outdoor chairs not comfortable - buy cushions = wait for approval

Warmer flooring ? rug?

Meeting room could have a softer/warmer ambience

Possible hatch has been discussed before. Sliding window could stop children coming to the bar?

Door to bar? can it be opened at social times/be moved/dressed with window blinds?

Who/how many are using pool/ do we have a darts team?

Are the sound things/clouds doing a job in the meetimng room or can we insulate the room instead?

Heating could be set to timers.

Could we create a cafe vibe and serve snacks at times?

Where will money for changes come from?

Can we create storage i.e children's games, library?

Will meeting room remain dog free zone?

Can we rename the bar and/or meeting room?

ACTIONS

Request to Trustees that pool table moves out of meeting room

No other changes until agreed

Consultation with members for ideas - VG create questionnaire. Present to Trustees. Online (AL) + paper.

AL begin some interior design drawings

Encourage that the questionnaire is completed, set deadline date + oportunity to feedback

MEETING TWO NOTES April

WE DISCUSSED

Decoration/changes: Will wait for member/questionnaire feedback before making any changes

Meeting room clouds -  current paintings will be removed until planning for the meeting room has been resolved. We will continue to explore the need/or not for the clouds + will respond to feedback here.

Everyone has different tastes/ideas, but ACVH event posters +/or real artwork from villagers might be positive

The working party role - 'looking/planning/improving the social spaces - e.g. not necessarily tidying the store.

Budget for any proposals would be discussed later when we have planned changes.

Importantly, we discussed that we (the working group) are simply facilitating a process which usefully responds to members + hall users needs + we may not necessarily agree with all the changes which may take place.

A positive response to online questionnaires + early indications show overwhelming positive feedback

ACTIONS

We agreed that the Volunteer evening on 9th may provide a good opportunity for discussion re. the questionnaires.

Agreed that we will invite members and those who showed an interest to a discussion date on Thursday 23 April from 6-7pm.

(Dave said he could open the bar)

We agreed that this hour would be best to allow for smaller group discussion + suggested smaller tables whereby people could discuss questions + feedback (written) + then we could collate (Possible 15-minute Q+A session?)

We suggested that a 'whole' village hall morning tidy up whereby each committee/trustee/available volunteer helps to tidy/stock take etc may be a good idea

Also discussed possible training + taster session for the bar to encourage volunteers
